Warbirds PinUp Shoots by John Sherman

I have to say one of my favorite series of shoots I've done lately has been some pinup style shoots with some beautiful vintage WWII aircraft and beautiful models that all happen to be NFL cheerleaders as well. How cool is that?

Special thanks to Mark Allen for allowing the use of these awesome aircraft. I wanted to give some history these special aircraft below.

The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk is an American single-engined, single-seat, all-metal fighter and ground-attack aircraft that first flew in 1938. The P-40 design was a modification of the previous Curtiss P-36 Hawk which reduced development time and enabled a rapid entry into production and operational service. The Warhawk was used by most Allied powers during World War II, and remained in frontline service until the end of the war. It was the third most-produced American fighter, after the P-51 and P-47; by November 1944, when production of the P-40 ceased, 13,738 had been built,[4] all at Curtiss-Wright Corporation's main production facilities at Buffalo, New York.

The Bell P-63F KingCobra was primarily a fighter plane, used for pursuit. A unique feature of the P-63 is that the engine is actually behind the pilot because a 37mm canon was designed to be put in the nose and shot through the middle of the propeller. It was mostly used by the US and Russians in WWII. It had a top speed of 450mph. There was 3,303 P-63 KingCobras built between 1943-1945 and this specific one is one of only 10 left in the world flying today, the last one to come off the assembly line and one of only two F variants built.

The Boeing Stearman Model 75 was a biplane that was used as a military trainer aircraft, of which at least 10,626 were built in the US during the 1930's and 1940s. It served as a trainer throughout WWII for the United States Army Air Forces, The United States Navy and the Royal Canadian Airfare under the name Kaydet. This specific Stearman was built in 1943.
